The Wight Stripes

Bouncing straight from one undead Blood Bowl team to another might seem like madness but as usual there is a method lurking in there somewhere. My thinking goes something like this; the core of both teams are made up of zombies and ghouls, and in fact I’ve used these interchangeably as I put together the Necromantic Horrors team. That only leaves me with a few skeletons, wights and mummies to paint to get Shambling Undead team up and running as well. So I put my necromantic energies to good use again this week and got the two mummies match ready.  

Followed by a pair of Wights…

…one more Ghoul…

…and four Skeleton linemen.

Put them all together with some models borrowed from my Necromantic Horrors team and we have another completed team. Not bad for a weeks’ work!

Of course, this is still far from being all of the Blood Bowl players lurking on the desk – expect to see more shortly as this sporting extravaganza continues!

The Up-Town Ghouls – Part 4

I’m aware that the last time I posted anything about this team I promised that I’d be adding a couple of ghouls to the roster and since then a) I’ve been completely distracted by other things and b) I’ve still not painted any ghouls. In the interests of redressing the balance a little though here’s a bunch more zombies. 

No-one can accused this team of lacking bodies (boom boom). Here’s all the zombies I’ve painted so far.

Anyway, next time I work on this team it really will be ghouls because those aside the team is almost done. 

Garage Days Revisited – Part 4

Some readers may recall that back in the summer of 2018 I was given a box of old miniatures rescued when a friend of a friend was refurbishing his garage. It was a bit of a pick and mix of old lead, we had a vampire, an Imperial Guardsman (shouting into his phone) and a boisterous Night Goblin fanatic, as well as a few other models which have passed the intervening years untouched – but never forgotten.

This undead Blood Bowl player comes from the same set and I reckoned it was high time he received some attention. I’ve been planning to paint up a Blood Bowl team or two for some time and although I’ll admit that still hasn’t happened this seemed like a fine way to dip a toe into the murky waters of violent fantasy sports.

First of all here we have him as he looked when I received him, in all his battered, ’90s era glory.

I think we’d all agree he’s a little rough around the edges but he’s not badly painted either, he certainly beats my early work hands down. The reason I’m showing this is that my aim was to keep his appearance fairly close to the original scheme, whilst updating it into something gritty and modern.

I’m still a little way off clearing my desk sufficiently of other projects, something I’d like to do before tackling a full Blood Bowl team, but working on this sporting corpse has reminded me how much I like the aesthetic of the game so I’ll aim to get to work on my Orcs soon.
