Amid The Ruins – Part 5

I’ve been chipping away at a few odds and ends of terrain, mostly the smaller stuff from the Warcry box, whenever I’ve needed a break from working on the Knight. Nothing terribly dramatic here but with a bunch of them now finished I reckoned I’d accumulated enough to make it worthwhile assembling a post about them.

First off, a couple of small walls (I did tell you there was nothing here to get super excited about right?).

A spiky chaos barricade…

A heap of rubble…

…and some mysterious gratings, through which some poor soul has undoubtedly been dragged – and devoured…

Apart from the gratings all of the above comes from the Warcry set, and the gratings themselves would fit in nicely there as well (especially in arena fights for instance).  With the Knight being the focus of my energy at the moment I’m not feeling too keen to take on the bigger buildings but as soon as it’s done I’d like to get back to them and finish off the set.

Amid The Ruins – Part 1

When the Warcry boxset was released last summer it came with a large collection of terrain, enough to put together the ruined city streets in which the game is set. Despite the fact that I still have a lot of Underhive terrain needing to be painted as well I’d like to tackle this soon so that we can try out some games. Terrain isn’t something I’ve painted that much of however, especially outside of the 41st Millennium where I can lean on my love of rusted metal, so I decided to practice by finishing off a couple of half-painted buildings from the Azyrite Ruins set first.

I challenged myself to get them done in short order and not get too bogged down in the detail of something which is, after all, primarily intended as a canvas upon which the real action will take place, whilst still producing something that I was happy with. Overall I’m pleased with how they turned out – I certainly learned a lot from them, so whenever I do get around to tackling the mean streets of Carngrad (which still won’t be right away unfortunately) I should be ready to go.

Take Cover! – Part 2

There’s something I find very relaxing about painting rusty metal, a trait that is proving rather handy when it comes to churning out loads of Necromunda scatter terrain. Here’s the latest gallery of Underhive odds and ends just waiting for a hapless ganger to dive for cover behind, or hide behind whilst indulging in some sneaky murdering, or get sneakily murdered behind.

Whilst I was about it I also got the Necromunda coin token finished as well. Is that bean juice?
