The Up-Town Ghouls – Part 4

I’m aware that the last time I posted anything about this team I promised that I’d be adding a couple of ghouls to the roster and since then a) I’ve been completely distracted by other things and b) I’ve still not painted any ghouls. In the interests of redressing the balance a little though here’s a bunch more zombies.

No-one can accused this team of lacking bodies (boom boom). Here’s all the zombies I’ve painted so far.

Anyway, next time I work on this team it really will be ghouls because those aside the team is almost done.

The Stupendous Swamptown Superstars – Part 1

Time for some more Blood Bowl players as I make a blatant attempt to pad out the number of models I’ve painted this month with lots of tiny Snotlings, using a mix of new plastics and a few of the old metal models I’ve had sitting about.

Want to see a group shot of the whole collection so far? Of course you do!

I’ve always had a soft spot for Snotlings (oh all right, I have a soft spot for greenskins of all descriptions but I am particularly fond of the little snots). Needless to say I’ve got loads of them kicking around so expect to see this infestation grow and grow!

The Up-Town Ghouls – Part 3

More undead sportsmen take to the pitch! After taking a bit of a break to concentrate on Fembruary it’s time that I got back to Blood Bowl and my Necromantic Horrors team. First to come lurching out of the corpse-works we have a hulking flesh golem.

He’ll be joining his team mate who I painted previously in providing some reanimated muscle for the team.

He’s not alone either, joining him on the pitch are two fresh(-ish!) zombies.

I also added to the selection of Blood Bowl balls I have available with these two disgusting offerings.

With these done the team is coming together nicely, the next thing it needs is a pair of ghouls.

Blood Bowl Troll

I’ve been promising to paint up a troll for my Blood Bowl teams for years now and it’s well past time I just got the hell on with it so here he is at last.

He wasn’t the easiest model to paint but actually he wasn’t that difficult either, I think I managed to convince myself that he was going to be very challenging and in the end he wasn’t too bad. I might even talk myself into painting another one soon. In the meantime though he’s done and so, for now, are both my Orc teams (he’ll be playing for both the Orcs and the Black Orcs for the foreseeable).

The Mean Green Geezerettes – Part 2

Right, let’s get this Fembruary party started with another Orc cheerleader for my Blood Bowl team. She joins her sister that I painted back in Orctober.

Go team! Go team!

Blood Bowl Orc Cheerleader Wudugast 4

As with last year I’ve got loads of models from the backlog and I’m going to try to batter through as many of them as possible. Last year I managed 21. This year I suspect it will be rather less, the first couple of weeks of the month look set to be pretty busy, but we’ll see how it goes.

Khornate Marauder Lineman

Blood for the Blood God! Bowls for the Bowl Throne!

I know I’ve got unfinished Blood Bowl teams left, right and centre at the moment but here’s another one! I liked the look of the Khorne team as soon as I saw them so I picked them up on release, assuring myself that I would save them until I finished something I’d already started. However I’m a strong believer in riding any wave of creativity that comes along on the grounds that a model painted today is one step closer to completing the team. Plus I just fancied painting something in the traditional Khornate colours of red and brass, rather than the various alternative schemes I’ve tried over the years, and who better than this Marauder Lineman?

The real problem I’m having is coming up with a suitably silly team name. I’ve been scratching my head over this for weeks and as yet drawn a blank, which is where you, dear reader, come in. Help a slaughter-brother out, I need suggestions please for a good team name. It should be something suitable for a sports team, reference something to do with the god Khorne and the various attributes associated with him (so things like blood, skulls, gore, violence, war, rage, you get the idea) and preferably it should be silly/funny/a pun. Any ideas? Get them in the comments box and win my gratitude!

The Up-Town Ghouls – Part 2

What’s this now, ghosts as well as werewolves?! Things are definitely getting a little spooky around here… Yes, it’s time for a little more Blood Bowl and, having decided that the werewolves for my Necromantic Horrors would be “easy wins” on the grounds that they were almost finished, I felt sure that the same could be said of the ghosts – after all they’re just sheets right? So long as I could manage to shade white properly I’d be sorted!

White really isn’t the easiest colour to work with but I took the easy road and made them nice and dirty (a sheet that’s been wafting around the Blood Bowl pitch for more than a few seconds is bound to be filthy right?) and that gave me the room to manoeuvre – and to bury my screw ups – and in the end they were almost as straightforward as I hoped.

The next thing this team needs is a bunch of filthy zombies…

The Up-Town Ghouls – Part 1

With the Black Orcs painted up it’s time to start work on another Blood Bowl team. I ought (for a given value of “ought”) to finish off the elves, or paint up the humans that I’ve been promising to work on for many a long year, but instead I spotted a couple of werewolves from the Necromantic Horrors team sitting on the desk and thought “No time like the present”.

I really like the look of the Necromantic Horrors and they should be fairly quick and fun to paint so although I’m going to carry on making high-minded claims about getting started on those humans it’s safe to assume more undead will be shambling this way shortly.

The Git-Killaz – Part 5

Right you horrible lot! Did you over-indulge at Christmas? Good!

As it happens I’ve been a busy boy. With the end of the year looming I decided to finish off my Black Orc Blood Bowl team (minus the troll – for crying out loud will you stop going on and on about that bloody troll!). The team had reached the stage where although there were still several models to paint they were all fairy small, nothing I couldn’t handle before we reach 2022 right?

First things first we have the three remaining goblins that complete the squad of players able to take to the pitch. Let’s take a look at them.

Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (6)Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (5)

This one seems to think he’s a bit tough. Let’s see how well that holds up when a chaos warrior is thundering down towards him…

I do like this lad’s headgear, very stylish indeed sir!

Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (8)Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (7)Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (9)

Gathered together with their mates from a couple of weeks ago, we have the goblin half of the team (joining the Orc half which I painted – appropriately – back in Orctober).

Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (4)

Of course we need a full-team group shot but that will have to wait because we have a few other things to look at first. Each team comes with a couple of coin-shaped counters with the team logo stamped on them.

Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (3)

And then we have a couple of balls. Again each team comes with balls in the style of the team. Do you want to see a goblin playing with his balls? You do? Well ok then…

A clever thing about a lot of the recent Blood Bowl teams is the way that each miniature can be built in one of two very distinct ways. Two sprues of models therefore give you two sets of pairs of models. In the first Orc team I painted you ended up with two sets of “clones”, each Orc was the same as their partner, until I set about converting with gusto of course! With this team there was no need to do that, and in my book that’s a very good thing. Much as I enjoy converting models it should be something that you do because you want to do it, not because you feel you have to just to end up with an aesthetically pleasing collection. Anyway, just for interest here’s all the pairs of models from the Black Orc team. Despite the name of this blog I can’t recall doing anything in the way of converting with these.

And there we have it, the Black Orc team is ready to roll. Want to see a group shot? Of course you do!

Blood Bowl Black Orc Wudugast Goblins ConvertOrDie (2)

I’ve still got plenty more Blood Bowl to tackle in 2022 of course. There’s that half-painted elf team, my long-neglected humans and various undead monsters all clamouring for attention. And that troll of course but the less said about him the better!

The Git-Killaz – Part 4

Time to revisit the Blood Bowl pitch as I keep chipping away at the Black Orc team I started in October. Last time we saw them I’d painted all 6 of the orcs which just left the goblins waiting for attention. Since then I’ve been working away at painting up the more nimble and diminutive side of the team and managed to complete first one…

…then another…

…and finally a third.

I also went for the easy win of getting these two markers painted up as well.

All in all the team is coming together nicely now so I’ll aim to finish it by that ever elusive date known only as “soon”.
