Bestigor

I’m not entirely sure where this Bestigor came from, I’ve only ever had the one so I can’t have bought a set of them. Anyway he’s another case of a model that’s been waiting a long time for paint and at last I’ve got around to him. I write that a lot don’t I…

Against a goat with a big axe what hope can the forces of civilisation really have?

Lovely job mate – you never know when a big angry goat-faced murder engine might come in useful… 😁

Looks great. Love the hints of blue – that really works

Very nice- looks like the model was sculpted the split second before a rampage started.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

That’s the thing about goats, they are all charm and innocence and then as soon as one arms itself with an axe the whole mood changes. Mark my words they can’t be trusted. 😉

Love it! When do you start on the Beastman army?

    • Wudugast

Cheers! Well, I’ve always fancied a beastmen army but it’s never quite come together. Don’t think it’s going to either – not anytime soon at any rate – but I’ve been digging through the backlog and I’ve got enough for a little warband so I might try to get that done soon-ish at least*.
*or of course I might just talk about it and move things around on my desk, you know how these things go…

A solid addition to any bestiary, and useful in a wide variety of games.

    He’s goat a powerful swing

Nice work. The Bestigor sculpt has aged remarkably well.

Cheers! It really has held up well hasn’t it? I reckon the beastmen range as a whole could use a bit of a shake-up, and seeing the return of a wider range of beasts than just goats would be great, but there’s still some cracking models in there – with the Bestigor being one of the nicest.

Quite right. Back in the days of WFB 8th edition I had a lot of Beastmen, the sculpts for most of which were already several editions old by that point. Bestigors were definitely my favourites, though I remember that assembling their arms and axes could be a bit of a pain.

Maybe you were going to use him for a conversion? Too late now and I’d say he’s quite a good looking mini. I never liked this faction (more of a woof elf fan to the surprise of nobody!) but I have to say this guy looks like quite a menace! 🙂

    • Wudugast

I think you’re probably right regarding the conversion, I’ve got a few beastmen knocking around that I got for that purpose (some of which might actually see completion in the near-ish future). To me the wood elves vs beastmen match-up was one of the iconic wars of the Warhammer setting, and although I’ve always leaned towards Chaos myself I also had a soft spot for the elves. Sadly the models were pretty ropey in the main (there were a few stand-outs but not enough to draw me in). I do like the new Sylvaneth but they’re no substitute for the old Wood Elves, it would be great to see that range revamped someday. For a long time I had a plan to mix parts from the Dark Elves/Wood Elves/Dark Eldar ranges to make a kind of “Wild Hunt” army, really playing up the savage side of the Wood Elves as they ride out from the forest depths in the dead of winter to feast upon those who have incurred their wrath. For now it’s one of those “projects that got away” but who knows, in the great cycle of nature it’s time may come round again. 🙂

Agreed on Wood Elves and Beastmen! In a weird way, the two kind of deserve each other 🙂 I think a “Wild Hunt” army would be amazing and my fear is that if GW redoes the Wood Elves, I won’t like them as much as the original so I don’t have my hopes up. It does seem like the Sylvaneth are GW’s main nature-based force as they’re expanding the types of minis they have in the future too.

That’s kinda crazy, only 1 Bestigor?! Maybe you traded something for him? Or maybe, just maybe…the dark forces of Chaos planted a lone Bestigor in your pad….why would they do that…WHY…..?!?!?

    • Wudugast

I blame the unfathomable will of the Dark Gods. It’s what I tell my wife every time something around the house isn’t as it should be, although for some reason she never seems to believe me…

Speak, damn you!
