Why yes, I did paint a stone troll and name him Rock Bottom. Don’t judge me, you’d have done the same thing if you’d thought of it!
Once again this is a model which has lurked in the pile of shame for some time, and now comes stomping forth at long last as I continue my efforts to work my way through the backlog. Somewhere I have a couple more of these trolls, expect to see them… someday.

I would have, too! Nice painting once again!

He looks great.
Approve of the punny name too!

Cheers Jenn – you’ve just got to give a troll a silly name right! 😀

Brill – love it mate! I reckon he’s got a pal called ‘Stony Broke’ 😂
March 27th, 2022 at 7:58 am
Ha – I was thinking of the next one would be called “Hard Arse” but I think I prefer your suggestion! 😀

Another troll! You must be getting serious about cleaning up your backlog if you’re taking on some of your hardest/most procrastinated models 🙂 He came out great and I like how the sculpt channels the old Warhammer trolls too. There’s a lot of charm with those or I think so anyway!

I know right, two trolls in one month?! To be fair this one was way, waaaaay easier to paint than the last one – having battered through this one I don’t know why I didn’t tackle him ages ago. As for attacking the backlog I’m feeling pretty good about it. I know there’s still a lot to do but I’m starting to feel like progress is being made. 🙂

Very good. I look forward to more creative figure naming in the future! 🙂

Cheers – I’ll see what I can do! 😀

Very nice.
Cheers,

I approve of the pun name; between you and Alex I think that you have the market cornered there!
I like the Troll but there is something a bit off about the deer she has slung over her shoulder. Is the skin from the Troll somehow affecting the colour?
March 28th, 2022 at 10:53 am
Cheers! Yeah, I’ve just compared the photographs with the real model and, on my screen at least, the deer/goat/cow/lunch-thing isn’t a perfect match, it does look a little off. Not sure why as the troll is fine, and it’s not enough that I’m feeling the urge to go and retake the pictures, but it’s not quite right all the same.

Nice work on The Rock’s finisher there! What *is* that model, though? It both looks like a GW model and also not like a GW model…
March 27th, 2022 at 7:57 am
Yeah, it’s a funny one isn’t it – it is a GW model but it doesn’t entirely have the look that I’d usually associate with their kits. It’s a Rockgut Troggoth (or a stone troll to you and me), came out about 4 years ago now.
March 28th, 2022 at 5:21 am
Ah ok. I think that kit is slightly modular from memory? That would explain the lunch slung over the shoulder. The head certainly doesn’t look like typical GW Stone Troll fare..
March 28th, 2022 at 10:55 am
Yes, that’s right, each model can be built in one of two poses (unless you want to get creative, but it’s not a very forgiving kit on that front unfortunately).
