Last Fembruary one of the models I painted was the Chaos Sorceress Zarshia Bittersoul, who forms part of the Khagra’s Ravagers warband from Warhammer Underworlds. In case you’ve forgotten her here she is again.
A year on however I still hadn’t touched the rest of the warband, but with the leader of the group being another lady (not that you’d really know under all that armour) Fembruary once again proved the perfect time to return to the project.
What’s more I decided that this year I wasn’t going to leave the boys behind either.
I did ponder long and hard over converting this one to be wielding twin axes like the legendary Slambo model of Warhammer’s early years but in the end I refrained – I just think he looks really cool the way he is.
That said it’s clear that Slambo shares a lot aesthetically with this Chaos Warrior from Heroquest so I couldn’t resist digging him out of storage for a picture with his new big buddy.
And of course here’s the group shot of Khagra’s Ravagers fully assembled at last.
These aren’t the only models I’ve got to show you either, tomorrow we’ll have a lady who really, really likes the Emperor. Something for you to look forward to eh!

Very nice! 🙂 They all go well together!

Thank you! I do enjoy painting single figures but there’s nothing quite like seeing a group that looks good together. I remember when I first painted a squad of space marines and I really didn’t enjoy them at all, I slogged through each one just so I could get them ready for a game and then at the end I put them down on the table as a group and suddenly thought “wow, these look cool”. Individually they were naff (they weren’t the best models and my painting skills back then were nothing to write home about) but put them all together and they looked great. Of course I like to flatter myself that more recent models like these chaos warriors look good separately but there’s still nothing quite like that moment where you put the whole squad (or even army) together and get the visual impact of seeing your work in aggregate for the first time. 🙂

I have to agree with all of the above! 🙂 Both individually and collectively, they look spot on!

Great work on this warband, and I chuckled at the size comparison to the classic chaos warrior!

Cheers! Aye, good old scale-creep eh – by the time I retire miniatures will be about 2 meters tall! :-p

Gorgeous mate, love these – you’ve got that baroque armour absolutely spot on 🤘

Thanks dude – I definitely had a few moments of cursing* that armour but I’m pleased with the end results. 🙂
*although with Chaos that may be a necessary step to make it better anyway!

I love it

The Chaos gods smile upon you! 😀 These latest recruits look great! While its rare to see a weak looking chaos warrior, this lot looks ready to fight anyone anywhere! Its always inspiring to see you paint up some Chaos minis so I hope we’ll see more in the near future 🙂

Thank you! Well I got very inspired by working on these, and I’ve been fancying putting together a Warriors of Chaos warband for a while, so I’ve dug out a few more and I’ll aim to tackle them soon. 🙂

These guys came up really well! I’ve got two of this warband actually (bought a second one to try and tempt Marouda into painting Khagra) so I may well do the Slambo thing that you mentioned here. I even planned to paint “my” set of them during Fembruary this year, but sadly didn’t get that far…

Cheers! Did you ever get around to painting yours? As well as being very slow at replying to comments right now (as you’ll have noticed!) I’ve also fallen behind on reading blogs – I had a quick scroll through your recent posts but didn’t see them (although I did see a lot of other cool stuff that I really need to have a proper read through asap…).

No, not yet. I’ve still got them here, sitting around while I try and get other stuff finished with the odd other model queue-jumping!
