Time for this month’s first visit to the polluted surface of Mars. I’ve spent this year working away on my Adeptus Mechanicus army for Warhammer 40k, challenging myself to add at least one model to the collection every single month of the year. Now that we’ve reached December my aim is to finish off the squads that are still incomplete so I can head into 2022 with a fresh slate – and hopefully ready to work on plenty more of the Omnissiah’s faithful.
Way back in May I painted up a Sicarian Infiltrator, the spidery part-machine assassins that scurry from the shadows to give anyone who threatens the forge worlds a damn good murdering. Now I’ve finally got around to painting up two more.
The other two models which will complete the squad are assembled, undercoated and lurking on the edge of the desk so all being well I’ll get them done before the end of the month.

These are cool little droids! That’s not something you often say about Warhammer minis, is it? These look like they’re really fast and easy to paint up because of all the metallic parts. Was it as quick as it looks? One of these days I’ll give into to temptation and paint something Ad Mech! 🙂 If only there were more hours in the day!

In an odd way, they’re kind of cute aren’t they? It’s their funny little faces.
Yeah, to be honest they were nice and quick to paint. It’s mostly the metalwork, red armour and grey fabric, then adding the details. They’re the kind of models where you really have to take your time at the start (even more than normal) to make sure you’ve covered everything, there’s a lot of odd angles which makes it easy to miss things. It comes together pretty quickly after that though. 🙂

How did I miss these? Lovely job dude, these are my fave of that first wave of AdMech troops – beautifully weird minis & a lovely paint job 👍👍

Cheers! Yeah, these and the tech-priest really grabbed me during that initial wave, showed they were going to get a bit weird with the Ad-Mech in all the right ways. You can just imagine them skittering around like spiders in gloomy forge complexes. In the Black Library novel Honourbound one of them tries to mess up a squad of Tempestus Scions and it really comes across as sinister and inhuman which drew me to them even more.
