Zarshia Bittersoul

So far most of the models I’ve painted for Fembruary have been what you might call “neglected models” – miniatures that have been sitting around unfinished for months or, in a number of cases, years. Either I bought them some time ago and then never got around to painting them, or I started them and then, for one reason or another, never finished them. This one however is very new, in fact she was only released at the start of last month and made her way to me just a few days ago. Did I leave her to gather dust before finally getting around to painting her? No, in a break with tradition I most certainly did not!

This is the scheming Chaos Sorceress Zarshia Bittersoul from the Khagra’s Ravagers set. She alone would have been enough to convince me to buy the set although the other three models are very nice as well (and of course I’ll paint those in due course too, although they might get the standard few months minimum spent dust gathering, just to ensure tradition is maintained!).

And there we have it, Fembruary is over for another year. I’ve painted so many models for it this year that a round-up is definitely in order so I’ll get that written up and posted at some point in the next few days. Of course I’ve still got plenty more female miniatures I’d like to paint so expect the usual mix of boys, girls, daemonic entities and soulless robots over the coming weeks and months.

She looks great! I’ve been eyeballing that box of models too, maybe once I have the Start Collecting box for Slaves to Darkness done I will grab these 4.

Cheers! I reckon they tie in really nicely with the Start Collecting box. I’m going to get more of them painted up soon – I’ll probably start with a Warcry warband and then keeping adding things. I worked out recently that the Start Collecting box + my Warcry collection + rebasing my old Warriors of Chaos = an AoS army so I’m thinking I’ll use that as a spur to get a load of them done.

Excellent and I can see why you would have wanted to get straight on and paint this one. All in all an amazing Fembruary and am now looking forward to your round up!

Thank you! It’s been a hoot actually, and I’m already thinking up ways I can top it next year. 😉 Plus it’s made a small, but not entirely insignificant, dent in the backlog. Glad you like Zarshia, all too often models end up taking far longer than they need to to get painted (on my desk at least) and there’s a lot to be said for just riding that wave of initial enthusiasm and getting them done.

Excellent finishing move dude, painted with style and panache, lovely stuff 😊👍

I was going to put “very tatty” but that could be misconstrued, so I’ll go with “very nice indeed” which sounds better but is probably less accurate! 😉 So very nicely painted it will have to be! 🙂

Thank you! Aye, she is a bit tatty isn’t she? Needs to spend a bit less time being diabolical and a bit more time sewing up all the holes in her costume I reckon! 🙂

    Nice paint job there.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Ooh, she came out quite nicely indeed. I like the color combination you chose and the green flames look very nice as well. I don’t remember seeing this sculpt before but I like it quite a bit and GW did a better job than on other sculpts with the basing bits. A lot of time, they add stuff that seem unnecessary to me but these look good and fit the mood of the piece well. This is a fitting close to the month and I will look forward to the round-up as well!

Thank you! She’s quite a new one, she’s part of the most recent Warhammer Underworld’s warband. Naturally I’ll probably use them as the basis for a Warcry warband (I know, I’m addicted to making Warcry warbands, I can’t help myself!). Completely agree on the bases, much as I would like to see more things to decorate bases with (to save me having to exercise my brain too much to think of things) some of them just look a bit random. This set though are particularly nice in my book. 🙂

Another master work there my friend!!

Oh boy, more soulless robots? Yes, please!

This one looks nice, you got the striking cape, the nice fur that you do, the green flame, all nicely rolled into one. Did the bits on her base come with her or was that something nice that you added?

    • Wudugast

Cheers! Yes, I have a whole army of soulless robots (necrons) sitting on the desk waiting to be painted. Just need to find the time to get my teeth into them really. I’m sure everyone thought I was telling porkies when I said I’d be doing a Necron army soon but I will – just need to find a way to generate a few more hours in the day first…

As for Zarshia the base is just as it comes, I didn’t add anything. The Warhammer Underworlds bases tend to have a lot of really nice sculpted details.

Speak, damn you!
