God Of Murder – Part 4

We’re into the last week of Fembruary now so it’s time to put the finishing touches on my Daughters of Khaine Warcry warband. Just like the two Witch Elves I showed earlier in the month these two come from the Morgwaeth’s Blade-coven set. Of course this also means that I only need to paint up Morgwaeth herself to complete another Warhammer Underworld’s warband so at some point I’ll do that too. For now though let’s concentrate on the final Warcry recruits.

First of all here’s a savage Sister of Slaughter, the berserker she-elves so savage that even the Witch Elves must look at them from time to time and think “Steady on”.

Alongside her we have a second snake-bodied Melusai, this time in the form of a Blood Stalker. I must confess that I was struggling a bit with this one but, very fittingly for Fembruary, my fiancée gave me some very helpful pointers and stopped me from making a hash of things. The benefits of having a professional artist in the house!

Finally here’s a shot of the whole warband gathered together.

Although the warband is finished for now I’ve got various other Daughters of Khaine models I’d like to add so at some point I’ll come back to this project and add a few more recruits. We’re also almost at the end of Fembruary and for me work and other “real life” commitments are starting to get particularly busy. That said there are a few more models I’d like to complete that are within stretching distance of getting finished so we’ll see what, if anything, I can manage over the next few days.

Dang, there’s a lot of stuff in that warband. I really like the Warhammer Underworlds range (even if the game itself is giving me the Magic-with-miniatures twitches). You’ve done a cracking job on these (and I’d never have guessed you had trouble with the Melusai, she looks ace).

Cheers! I feel the same way about Warhammer Underworlds, card games and the whole competitive deck-building aspect turns me off but the miniatures are downright gorgeous. I keep trying to find other uses for them, as heroes in various armies or – as in this case – as the core of Warcry warbands.

Excellent mate – again, those snake ladies are not the easiest things to paint, but you’ve nailed it 😊

Cheers! I was (and am) really pleased with the first one but I reckon she’s an improvement so I’m happy with that. Got a few more of them kicking around which I’ll tackle at some point.

Oh wow the second lass is incredible. I hope you do manage to sneak out a few more before the end of the month because I’ve really loved all your submissions mate.

Excellent as always. You’ve certainly excelled yourself this Fembruary and there is still a week to go! Awesome effort and these ladies are very dynamic indeed. As always live the group shot. 🙂

Thank you! It’s been a lot of fun actually, just seeing how much I could get painted if I just focussed. Having a deadline has helped as well, I think if I thought I was going to keep painting at the same rate forever I’d have burned out long ago but knowing I only had to keep it up for a month, and that work is scheduled to get a bit manic after this so I won’t have a lot of painting time in the next couple of months, kept me focussed. It’s been good to have a bit of a purge of the unfinished pile too, I’ve created a bit of space that I can fill with lots more unfinished models. 😀

Those are great- they are very dynamicly posed too.

The purple snakeskin is a great touch.

Thanks mate – they’re great models aren’t they? The purple snakeskin was entirely my partner’s idea, she did the first scale and I just did my best to copy what she showed me. I reckon it worked out not bad though. 🙂

I really like the models that the first elf comes from. I want to say their called the Sisters of Slaughter (which surely there is an industrial or goth band with that name out there somewhere!) and I just love those fearsome masks they wear. So intimidating. I think the second miniature might be the best looking one in the warband though. Your painting on it is really great and I like the bold, gold color too but I think you know my painting style and which way I’m biased towards 😉 Seeing all of them together is great and really makes me appreciate how cool Morathi’s lot, looks when put together!

    • Wudugast

Sisters of Slaughter is correct (and that would be an amazing name for a band!). I must admit I’ve very proud of the second snake lady too – especially as I came so close to making a total mess of things. Very tempted to paint a few more of these now. 🙂

Very nice looking war band and congrats on getting them done for now! I’d have to say, the two on the far left are my fave. The hair, and the armor/chestplate are nicely rendered even from a small distance. Overall though, they are an amazing looking group and I’m sure anyone would love to play them!

    • Wudugast

Thank you – I enjoyed painting those two a lot as well. In fact, truth be told, I’m very pleased with all of them, this is definitely a project I’ll be coming back to. 🙂

Speak, damn you!
