Back to the Iron Golem and it’s hammer time! With the Untamed Beasts in the bag it’s time to turn my attention back to their adversaries. Brutal, unwavering and fiercely disciplined they may be but they still need someone to keep them in line. Enter the warband’s leader; the Dominar.
With him done, an increasing amount of terrain to play on and his rivals already spoiling for a fight I reckon I’m well on the way to getting the warband completed – indeed just the Drillmaster and Prefector are needed for my first thousand point warband, so I’ll aim to get that done soon and then break with tradition and actually roll some dice.

He is very much the leader. Can’t see many wanting to mess with him. Splendid. 😊

Cheers! Yup, I reckon no-one will dare to cross him – except for maybe this guy of course… https://convertordie.wordpress.com/2020/03/10/untamed-beasts-part-5/

Now that would be a battle royal.

Hopefully it should be happening very soon. Both of them are the leaders of Warcry warbands and I’m going to try to get a game in ASAP, getting the two leaders to clash dramatically somewhere seems like a foregone conclusion! 😀

There’s something about hammer wielding big guys, whether it’s Thorgrim from the Conan movie or Lighthammer from Blade 2. This guy fits right in, nice work!

It’s just a fact, you can be the finest warrior in the world but you can’t shrug off a dunt on the head from a massive great hammer (this is also how I play computer games like Skyrim; heavy armour + massive hammer = strutting round some digitally rendered pseudo-medieval landscape like a boss!).

This guy is very nice. War Cry was my planned summer holiday project before it all went down, but there seems like there’s little enough in the box that I might be able to make it into a 2020 project of some type. Keep up the posts – I’m going to need them (and yeah, gonna work backwards from here and catch up on what else you’ve been working on).

Thank you! Yeah, it’s surprisingly achievable once I got started really. Each warband is pretty quick and easy to tackle (especially in comparison to the hordes you get with games like AoS, 40k, WHFB etc) and you must have more than enough terrain to get you started. Could be the kind of project that gives quick results with little effort – especially if you were to pick one of the other warbands (i.e. from the wider Warhammer/AoS range) that you already have models for and then just add a few models to round them out. Might be a fun way to ease yourself back into painting?

He’s a belter mate – great job again on the metals

Thank you! I was so proud of the leader of the Untamed Beasts I couldn’t let the side down with his opposite number 🙂

Nicely done and a leader for sure but something tells me he suffers from short man syndrome haha.
April 4th, 2020 at 3:08 pm
Haha, he’s definitely trying to compensate for something! 😉

Great- love how he raises his weapon in triumph.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thank you! Yup, totally agree – I love that pose. One of my favourite things about it is that it could fit either at the start or the end of a fight (not so much the middle unless he’s trying to defend himself awkwardly from a giant bird). He could be trying to intimidate an enemy before they clash or he could be standing in triumph over a defeated foe.

Another well-painted gem. Love the light rusting on the chain mail and the bloody hammer is just right.
