The walls of Carngrad continue to rise! With the Untamed Beasts tamed, for the moment, and the Iron Golem well on their way to completion, it’s time for another building. Honestly there’s not much more to add here that hasn’t been said already regarding the last lot.
There are still a few more buildings and barricades in the Warcry set to complete, plus I’d like to make some weird, warped Chaos terrain to add to the collection, but in the immediate term we have enough now to get us started playing a game or two. I’d like to finish off the Iron Golem warband next, and after that returning to terrain (and painting some chaotic beasts) will be my key priorities.

Very nicely done I must say.

Looking good dude! Have you made these as per the online instructions to work for the terrain cards?
March 27th, 2020 at 11:36 am
Cheers dude, yes this one matches the cards. I’m aiming as far as possible to build a full set of buildings to match the terrain cards (roughly, I’m not going to lose sleep over it, so long as they’re pretty much compatible with the cards I’m happy), then I’ll make some suitably twisted and chaotic terrain to go with them. That way we’ve got the choice to either use the cards or branch out and do our own thing.

Cool man – Iām thinking of doing some 40k/homebrew terrain to match the Warcry terrain cards… I couldnāt do me a massive favour & send me plans and dimensions, could you??

I certainly can mate. I don’t seem to have your email address any more but drop me a line at convertordie@hotmail.com and I’ll see what I can drum up.

Awesome, cheers dude!

Came out looking rusty and good.

Thank you! š

Lovely. Theyāre sort of moody, if that makes sense? I donāt mean like my sixteen year old daughter either

Haha – I wanted a landscape that’s scary – but maybe not quite that scary!
April 3rd, 2020 at 8:54 am
I like these. The subtle red vs blue on them works a treat. I think I’ll be ripping off some of the rust-smudge effect on the things on my table tonight.
April 3rd, 2020 at 11:22 am
Thank you! You can’t beat a bit of sponged-on rust for making terrain look suitably nasty š
April 3rd, 2020 at 11:31 am
Done, dusted (with rust) and outside with varnish drying. Now to finish the bases in between WoW runs, wrestling podcasts and skipping sleep.
April 15th, 2020 at 3:51 pm
Nicely done. Lots to check out, the Rust of course, but I’m also noticing the stone on top, the wood, and the nice weathering along the bottom of the terrain. Great stuff!
April 18th, 2020 at 8:25 am
Thank you! I was pleased with the weathering along the bottom, helps to tie it into the landscape I reckon.

I googled “Carngard,” and didn’t find much other than stuff in Croatia and such. Is it your own personal city or something in GW or some other company’s published lore? I ask because I’m working on putting up your bell tower for the Miniatures of Magnitude round-up and I wanted to mention it.
Yep, I’m getting an early start this time. I thought that it might be a good idea to work on the round-up as the miniatures come in instead of waiting and doing everything all at once at the end. š

Good thinking, always better to chip away at these jobs early rather than tackle the whole thing in a oner. I’ve got a job I need to do every month for work, it’s boring and time consuming and I usually just chip away at it, keeping on top of it by doing a five minutes or so every day or two. This month I’ve not touched it for various reasons and now it’s staring at me balefully, having grown into a herculean task that dares me to tackle it now – with only a little more than a week to go.
Anyway, Carngrad is from the Warcry background lore, it’s the capital city of the Bloodwind Spoil, which is a region in the Eight-Points. The area around Carngrad has been the focus of the game so far, although in my mind a lot of the Bloodwind Spoil (and indeed a lot of the Mortal Realms in general) is made up of ruined cities in which Chaos tribes fight. I tend to imagine that just as the cities of the Maya were swallowed up by the jungle after their civilisation went into collapse so too the cities of the Mortal Realms were abandoned to fall into ruin as people fled before the coming of the Chaos armies. This is of course just an excuse for me to use Warcry rules to play AoS themed games set anywhere in the Realms, not just the Chaos wastes around Carngrad!

Yes, indeed. Sounds like your plan is a good one, even if current events have put a sort of monkey wrench into your routine. Hopefully you’ll be able to get back on track soon and it all will stare balefully at you no longer. š
That is good to know about Carngrad. I’ll have to incorporate some of what you told me into the round-up, thank you.
