By the end of last year I’d managed to get the greater part of my poxwalker horde painted up. My aim is to complete forty of these horrible plague zombies, each different to all the others to some degree, and with only eight left to paint I’m keen to knuckle down and get them finished in the near future.
With that in mind here’s the next four.
Ladies and gentlemen, give this man a big hand!
At some point I chopped one of my poxwalkers in half so that I could use the upper part of the body in some conversion or other (don’t ask me what now, I can’t remember). That left me with a pair of legs, not to mention one poxwalker short of the forty I had planned, so I kitbashed in bits from an old WHFB zombie I had lying around. It’s not perfect by any means but I’m happy enough.
With these done I’ve now I now have only four more to do to complete this part of the Death Guard project so although I’m planning to focus of Warcry for the next little while I’ll keep chipping away at these and hopefully get the rest wrapped up soon.

Lovely job mate – that zombie conversion is pretty damn good!

Thanks mate! He’s alright, in fact given the lack of materials I had to work with and the fact that he’s basically a free miniature made out of leftovers I’ll stretch as far as “he’s pretty good”. 🙂

Great work- 40 unique models will look very impressive.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thank you – that’s the hope, I’m pretty pleased with the look of the first 36 so adding 4 more should be even better! ☺️

Well you don’t do things by half, 100 Orks, 40 plague zombies … What next I wonder? I do admire your staying power and mainting a level of excellence throughout. Whenever I have start with grand ideas I end up drifting away well before completion, hence small projects! Love the kitbash figure.

Don’t forget 105 skaven clanrats and 60 night goblins! If you’re going to do it, overdo it and all that! 😉
I think I just like massive horde armies, they create a punchy visual spectacle when they’re all gathered together that appeals to me very much. The trick for me is not to think about the overall project until right at the end when the momentum will carry me over the line. Up until that point I’m just painting this one individual ork or zombie that’s in front of me, and that’s easy because they’re only small and there’s only one of them. That way the horde grows organically and by the time I start to pay attention to it as a single entity it’s almost done.

I do like the idea of producing an army of my own.
If I do decide to give it ago I think your approach is the way to go.

Very impressive painting!

There is nothing like starting the new year with some beautiful Pox walkers ,thanks mate !!

I knew you’d enjoy them! Just four more to go, then I’ll move on to other disgusting things! 😀

Great conversions and paint! (That gauge-meter, man!) I just did 20… Tried very much the same, only my conversion skills pale in comparison… And used cero extra bits. But in my mind, the next twenty would be going full no-way-it’s-the-same like you achieved here… That’s why those exist only in my mind.

Thank you! Yeah that gauge called for a steady hand – I may have had to repaint it after making a mess of it the first time 😉
For every miniature I paint there are always a dozen that I imagine but never get around to, or even pluck up the courage to attempt. Still Nurgle is very forgiving when it comes to conversions so I’m sure if you were to tackle another twenty you’d pull them off in style 🙂

Cheers! If I can get my hands on some more, I’ll tackle them! Budget will have my army growing slowly like a well cooked pandemic… But I have a G.Unclean1 and two demon-princes that can occupy me for years, I’m afraid/happy to say!
Could I humbly ask you for some feedback?

Those were all painted and converted this past month… After a long hiatus.

Wow, that’s all from the last month? Very impressive! I also have a Great Unclean One glowering at me from in its box. How long it is before I get it painted of course remains to be seen – knowing me I suspect it may be quite a while

Really? I’d never thought I was anything near fast… But I guess I was putting a lot of time on it, but couldn’t keep up… I am now doing those 40K animations, but hopefully I’ll be back to at least grab the brush every-day!

I was looking around for a couple of pictures for a March painting challenging I want to get out there, and I was wondering if I might grab one of your poxwalker pictures to use in my post?
March 2nd, 2020 at 7:24 pm
p.s. These wretches are characteristically pretty in that way you have, which I like so much. 🙂
March 2nd, 2020 at 9:43 pm
Cheers! Nurgle thinks they’re beautiful anyway 😀
March 2nd, 2020 at 9:41 pm
Of course you can – no need to ask 🙂 Looking forward to seeing what the challenge is.

Thank you very much Wudugast. Yes, they are quite lovely; I am of the same mind with Nurgle to be sure. 🙂
The painting challenge is over here.

Really nice once again – I recognised the zombie torso, and I do think it fits well. Not evertyone can have a split gut, after all! Is the skull-head from that Skulls set that GW released awhile back?
April 4th, 2020 at 9:58 am
Thank you! Aye exactly, I enjoy a split gut as much as the next man (a phrase you don’t get to use too often in polite conversation) but variety is the spice of life. The head is just a normal poxwalker head although now you mention it there is one in the skull pack which I suspect would have looked better – ah well, one to file away for future use instead.
April 4th, 2020 at 10:19 am
Poxwalker head is better in a lot of ways – much more accessable and a part that can be used with much more carte blanche!
