When we first sat down to play Blackstone Fortress we all grabbed our favourite characters and naturally I went for the mad lady with the flamethrower strapped to a chainsaw. Don’t you judge me! Thus having already painted UR-025, the not-so-Imperial robot, I couldn’t help but continue my love-affair with Pious and paint her next.
Navigator Espern Locarno (who more than proved his worth by frying enemies aplenty with his soul-stealing third eye) and debonair king-of-style rogue trader Janus Draik, made up the rest of our original party so I may well paint one of them next – or I may decide to mix things up with one of the other heroes.

Nice work! I especially like the way you’ve painted the fire/smoke, works really well.

Thank you! Must admit I’m very proud of it myself, I approached it with real trepidation because painting fire/smoke isn’t my strong suit but I reckon it came out pretty well.

Nice work! Makes me want to get to work on my BSF stuff now!
May 25th, 2019 at 7:15 pm
Go for it! π Have you played it yet? We quite got into it for a while whilst my partner’s brother was staying with us, will probably break it out again once work quietens down a bit. Given the amount of stuff in your collection you should be well set to proxy most of the units (I tend to envision your house as looking like the Warhammer World museum, only with more miniatures…). Could be just a case of doing four characters and anything you can’t proxy in to get you started (at the rate you paint that’ll only be half an hour or so right?) and then add other things as you feel like it.

Nope, haven’t played it – mostly because I haven’t painted any of it yet! Good point on painting the characters and then proxying the other models while I paint the “proper” ones, though…
…and I *wish* I had that much display space! π

Cracking job mate, I particularly like how the coolness of the smokey blue flames contrast with the red robe & cable detail – superb!
May 27th, 2019 at 7:31 am
Cheers mate! Actually had a lot of fun messing around with the tones and colours on this one, seems like living with an artist is going to my head π

Nice figure and I am complete agreement with other comments, the flames are ace.
May 27th, 2019 at 7:33 am
Thank you! Yeah, the flames were fun to do actually, normally something I struggle with but I’m rather proud of how these have turned out (in a humble and understated kind of way of course…)

Excellent! Love the muted paint job.

Thank you!

I am totally going to judge you for that character choice. In my judgement, you are awesome for that! She’s my fave from the lot as well.
Not much to say about the paint job that hasn’t been said. Looks great!
Actually, thinking about your description of her makes me wonder: Is it a flamethrower strapped to a chainsaw, or a chainsaw strapped to a flamethrower? π
May 27th, 2019 at 8:00 am
Cheers! She really is awesome isn’t she! π I’m hopeful we might see a few more models of this kind of style when the Sisters of Battle get their release.

Lovely work- my fvourite version I’ve seen of the model so far.
Cheers,
Pete.

Thank you – that is high praise indeed!
May 25th, 2019 at 7:25 am
Looks great and I especially love how you did the flames
May 25th, 2019 at 7:20 pm
Cheers! π

I’m going to echo everyone else here, but those flames are beautiful! The red cloth also looks wonderful!
May 27th, 2019 at 8:01 am
Thank you very much! Yeah, I worried about the flames beforehand but I’m really pleased with how they’ve come out.

Really nice work Mr Wudu. Great colour scheme. Iβve actually sliced and diced my copy of her up but now, after seeing yours, I kind of regret it hehe.

Thanks man! I was sorely tempted to cut mine up as well, she’s a gift for conversions, but I just couldn’t bring myself to. Might pick up a second one for chopping though, will keep half an eye out for a bargain. Looking forward to seeing what you do with yours π

Iβve found black fortress minis fairly cheap, individually, on eBay.

Love the painting you’ve done here. Strapping a flamethrower to a chainsaw could be almost the most 40K thing possible; it just needs a few skulls hanging off it for the full effect.

Ha! True – that sounds like the elevator pitch for the World Eaters doesn’t it! π
