The Ladykillers – Part 11

After a slow start I’m pleased to discover that the Escher gang is coming together nicely. I’m now reaching the point where there’s almost a glut of gangers, although there are still a few weapon options I think it would be fun to throw into the mix, so my next move will be to add the gang leader and another champion before moving on to one of the other houses. First though here are two more of the rank and file gangers, both of which have been sitting around half-painted for long enough to become embarrassing.

When I built Kherrisa I wanted to give her a chainsword but back then the Forge World weapon upgrades were no more than a distant dream. Of course, clever though I thought I was in finding a suitable alternative, it’s still taken until now to get her painted.

Melikka used to have a different head but I was never entirely happy with it as it strayed rather close to one I’d already used for one of the other girls, so as soon as the Forge World alternative head kit was released she suffered a quick decapitation and the installation of a new face.

As noted above I think the gang is almost at what I would consider fighting strength (that is to say, not done – because no project is ever done and this one especially is a very long way from that, but ready to take to the tabletop as and when things quieten down enough to let us get a game in). With this in mind I’m aiming to get the last few members of the core team painted up ASAP so as usual, watch this space!

Look great mate and will fit seamlessly with the rest of the gang. Group shot coming soon?

Thank you! Good point on the group shot, and it would tie in nicely with Azazel’s Army April. However there’s a few half-finished models I’d like to add before I do that, I’d better get my skates on! πŸ™‚

The chainsaw looks awesome. May have to steal the idea for mine ;).
I also recently started a 40k blog and would appreciate it if you checked it out.

Steel away. I used a Space Wolf chainsword as its about the right size.
I’ve been keeping an eye on your blog, I’ll sit down for a proper read soon. πŸ™‚

Looks like a Space Wolf Chainsword for Kherissa? It looks good for Necromunda. Almost as intimidating as some Goliath weapons!

I don’t know if it’s the angles or the sculpt or what, but I really don’t like the head that’s on Melikka. Not nearly a cool enough hairdo, and the details look kind of squashed or something. Maybe it’s supposed to be distortion from whatever injury led to that bionic eye, but it looks a bit too similar to the faces on some of the LotR stuff they’ve done recently that were just flat out bad.

That’s right, I thought the little rune on it looked sufficiently Escher-ish and the size was about right (I mean, it’s daft huge really, but it’s about the same size as the official one turned out to be).

Funnily enough I didn’t like that head either until I had it in hand, but it’s really grown on me. I don’t think these photos show it off at its best though. She has a real pugilist’s face I think, like she’s been in a few fights and her looks have suffered as a result. Mind you, you should see the other guy!

I do need to get around to ordering a set of those. I was looking at it on FW, and even there, it’s one of a couple in that set that I really don’t like, at least how they photograph.

    Love them- wonderful paint jobs.

    Cheers,

    Pete.

Great mate lovely looking lasses !

  • Alex

Nicely done dude, that chainsword looks brutal!

  • Azazel

A very cool looking pair there, mate – and the chainsword looks completely appropriate. Having not started on my Escher yet, I’d have never picked it as not necessarily coming from the kit if you hadn’t called it out.

I’m not just saying this because of the whole man-crush thing but your Escher are the best I’ve seen

Speak, damn you!
