Get Sick or Die Trying – Part 8

Two more Poxwalkers come shambling forth. After slowing to an appropriately zombie-esque crawl with them over the last few months I seem to be picking up the pace with them at the moment – which is good news as there are still plenty more to do!

This poor chap’s been left with his head in his hands…

I’m not really a fan of the stock model for this next Poxwalker. With a few judicious tweaks I’ve made him acceptable to my eye but the original is just too over the top for my taste. Following my adjustments  I’m happy enough with him but I don’t think another based off the same model will be making its way into the horde. That said I did enjoy the chance to really go mad on the gore and slather on the Blood-for-the-Blood-God paint for once.

    I like the original of the first one, but your version of it is better. Varying the colour schemes like this really helps, too.

    The one thing I really like about the base model for the second one is the bionic arm. I made sure to cut that off very carefully, and now I’m waiting for a better Model to use it with.

      Re the first one; cheers, I’m a fan of the original too so there will be one painted “out of the box” sooner or later.

      As for the second that bionic arm is great isn’t it? You’ll notice it’s missing from this model, I also trimmed it off carefully and now it’s being worn with pride by a half-painted Orlock ganger 🙂

    Both are ace man but the first is the best. I want to hear about why he’s taken his head off? Or is he trying to put it back in place? Hehe

      Cheers man 🙂 I dunno, maybe being a zombie just got too much for him and the poor guy just lost his head? Or maybe he just wants to get ahead in life?
      Honestly I reckon that, judging by his startled expression, he was trying to scratch his head and his whole bonce just came away in his hand. Now he’s trying to put it back in place before anyone notices 😛

    That first model is ace! Love the comedy value in it and the paint job is very sickly looking. Great stuff.

    Nice job on both dude – number is especially cool, while 2 looks like a bag of worms… I can see why he is your least favourite, but he’ll be just fine in a horde

      Cheers dude – yeah, one of number 2 in the horde will be fine but he’s just too OTT, as though they didn’t know what to stop with the mutations. Like I say I’m happy with my version as a one off but I don’t know if I could be arsed with another. I do have a second version of that model kicking around however, but I have something else planned for him, which should hopefully take advantage of his supremely mutated state. When I get around to it of course is another matter…

    Not sure why, but when I first glanced at the first pic on my phone, I thought the figure had two heads. Like he had taken one and was holding it to his left shoulder. What you came up with is really nice though. Sorta a Headless Horseman thing, and maybe he likes to chuck his head at people, just for the horror of it.

    I really like the skin tone on number two. Model wise, I think the weakest point is the head. It’s already a chaotic mix of mutations, but with no face for (us human) viewers to relate to, it makes it hard to identify with. If that makes any sense at all. I still like it though. They both look pretty cool in their own ways.

      But… but… *lip quivers and begins to sniffle* the head on number 2 was one of the main things I changed!

      Nah, it’s fair enough, I debated on what head to use myself and I did wonder about exactly the issue you raise. On the original model the face is relatively human but a bit too quirky and cartoony for my taste. The mechanical arm doesn’t help in my view, it’s neither one thing nor the other.

      I debated whether or not to go for a horrified, human face embedded in the flesh of the monster, as though he was all too aware of how he had been consumed by Chaos, or whether to go the way I did and make a faceless vermiform horror. Might still do something with the first idea at some stage. I like you suggestion re number 1 as well actually, a zombie that already has a head holding up a second head next to it, perhaps as though he’s fooling around pretending to have two heads, or perhaps listening to it (after all a zombie is a walking corpse themselves they may assume that a severed head still has something to say). A bit of sick comedy goes a long way with Nurgle. I’ll have a play around and see what I come up with 🙂

        Haha, sorry man. Yea, seeing the original model, I probably would have wanted to change the head too. The one you chose just looks a little off to me. Maybe because he’s spotlighted with his own pic. In an army, I might go “Hmm, that’s kind of interesting…why does that one guy look like that?”. Kind of like the bar scene in Star Wars A New Hope.

        Oof – now I’m picturing that bar packed with zombies. That really would be a hive of scum and villainy! 😉

        Except Zombies are really only good at eating others. Whereas I like to imagine all kinds of crimes were going on in that bar. 😉

        True. I mean, there must have been something wild going on behind the scenes to make Obi-Wan say “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy”. Fair enough the place didn’t look exactly salubrious but I’ve been in rougher looking joints towards the tail end of a night out…

        Yea, and the ones I’ve been in, certainly didn’t have such upbeat music. But maybe that’s just to lure people into the trap! ;D
