Scum! – Part 3

I found this chap lurking in a box of unfinished models and thought he was crying out to join my hive scum. You can never have too many of those lowlifes after all!

Scum Convert Or Die Necromunda (1)Scum Convert Or Die Necromunda (3)Scum Convert Or Die Necromunda (2)

With so many greenskins running around this month I suspect I won’t get much time for Necromunda but you never know. I’ve got several Goliaths who just need a little push to get them finished so who knows?

Edit: A few people have asked where the model comes from. You can pick him up from Moonraker Miniatures for a very reasonable price. A lot of the models shown on their website have less than inspiring paintjobs I feel but don’t be put off, I’ve found the miniatures themselves to be generally excellent (and you can expect to see a few more pop up here over the coming months).

Very nice – the face in particular turned out really really well!

  • Alex

He’s brilliant dude, very evocative painting – I love it! Where is the model from? I don’t recognise him… conversion?

  • Alexis West

Yep. That’s a Hive Scum alright! Nice and characterful, too. Pretty sure I’ve got a fairly good idea of what kind of bar he drinks at, what his pickup truck looks like, and that he listens to the Necromunda equivalent of AC/DC knockoff bands πŸ˜‰

Like Alex, I don’t recognize the Model, but a lot of the elements look familiar. I figure I could build someone similar using Chaos Marauder parts, but he’d be bulkier, and the leanness is part of this guy’s menace here.

    • Wudugast

I know what you mean, he just wouldn’t look the same if he was more muscular, the narrowness of the pose really emphasises the sense of threat. He’s from Moonraker Miniatures (link is above in my reply to Alex). Glad you like him πŸ˜€

      • Alexis West

Thanks for the link! They’ve got some cool stuff on there. Bookmarked it for a more thorough look-through later on.

      • Wudugast

Yeah, there’s some great stuff there, a lot of the official paint jobs really don’t do the models justice (and the prices are incredibly reasonable, especially for those of us used to GW’s gouging). Think I need to put another order in soon myself.

  • Argentbadger

Sweet painting. I was also wondering about the sculpt. I think that I’ve got a box of post-apocalyptic types from Copplestone knocking about somewhere and I think that perhaps this chap came from the same source?

    • Wudugast

Cheers man πŸ™‚ He’s from Moonraker (link above in my reply to Alex), but I just had a look through the Copplestone range, not sure if there’s a link between the two – and I didn’t spot this guy – but there did seem to be a few models that appear in both ranges.

Nice adition! Never enough scums to roam the underhive, but this one add his contribution in an effective way.

  • Pete S/ SP

Great redition of one of my favourite figure ranges.

  • Faust

Sweet job, man! I would totally drive over to your house to play some Necromunda. If my car could cross water, that is! πŸ˜‰

Can you tell us more about the base?

    • Wudugast

Well, if you ever get sorted out with a semi-aquatic car you know you’re welcome to come on over. My house is right by the sea too so that should make parking easy for you! πŸ˜‰ Bring your Blood Bowl stuff too.

What would you like to know about the base? It’s pretty much the same as my usual style, a combination of gravel stuck down with pva and then drybrushed various shades of grey (wasn’t that a famous book?) and bits of plasticard painted as tarnished metal.

      • Faust

I’ll bring some beer, and hopefully leave the kiddo at home, haha!

Ah, there was a bit in the middle that was a bit shiny in the base. Thought you mind have made a pool of nurgling rot there. On the closer inspection, I guess it’s just a rock or plasticard.

  • Azazel

Great work. You have really captured the Mad Max / Fallout aspect of Necromunda here, even though it’s not an actual Necromunda model. I’ve got that one myself somewhere along with a bunch of the others from the Dark Future range. πŸ‘

    • Wudugast

Yeah, I really like the post-apocalyptic side of Necromunda, all the things that go on outside the hives in the ash wastes and it seemed like a perfect moment to explore that a bit πŸ™‚

  • imperialrebelork

Really cool dude. Have we seen him before? Where are the legs from? There’s something a bit Native American about him. Top work Mr Wudugast

    • Wudugast

Cheers mate πŸ˜€ Don’t think I’ve shown him before (maybe as a WIP but I don’t remember it). His legs, and indeed every other part of him, are from Moonraker Miniatures (he’s painted as is, I didn’t convert him at all). The link is in the reply to Alex above and now you’ve reminded me I’ll put one in the post as well.
You’re right there is something faintly native American about him, not sure exactly what but I’d noticed it too.

  • heresyofus

He looks great and definitley mad maxy. I think I’ll head over and take a look at the miniatures on offer

Speak, damn you!
