Zombies are at their best in hordes. A lone zombie may be pretty terrifying if it’s in your house, or even shambling around on your street, but when it comes to zombies as miniatures; more is always better. I don’t want a few poxwalkers I want a mighty swarm to terrorise the neighbourhood. Furthermore I’ve decided I want every poxwalker to be unique (regular readers will know this was inevitable). With this in mind I’ve been kitbashing and converting quietly away in the background of other projects and now it’s time for two more corpses to walk.
As usual I try to sneak in a little narrative where I can. This chap was ordered by his Imperial masters to walk through the streets with his bell warning citizens to remain indoors whilst the plague run its course. Alas there is no one left alive to hear him now but he keeps ringing his bell in honour of grandfather Nurgle’s glory.
Meanwhile his new friend plays to the joyful enthusiasm felt by Nurgle’s followers.
It’s not all about Poxwalkers though; lurking behind the rotten horde trudge their malevolent masters, the Plague Marines…
Grandfather be praised!

I love that first guy, he just oozes puss and bile from those weeping sores. I’ve got it in mind to do a zombie themed Dioram at some point. When I do I can see I will be visiting your site for painting inspiration.

He’s pretty horrible isn’t he? Would be very interesting to see how you tackle zombies, I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Lovely stuff mate, I particularly like how you did the skin on the bell ringer!

Cheers mate – must confess I’m rather proud of it myself!

Excellent zombies and those Plague Marines look the part. Well done!

Cheers š The plague marines are a joy to work with actually, I’ll need to do some more soon.

I love everything I’m seeing here Wudu. The posing on the Plague Marines is perfection.

Thank you very much – the plague marines are a joy to work with and you know I love making zombies! š

Nice and gribbly! Love the first guy with the bell. His face just says BRAINS!!!
October 3rd, 2018 at 1:35 pm
Cheers man – I like the cheerful poxwalkers well enough but I just had to mix a few more traditional zombies in there too š

Great stuff! Zombies are a blast to convert too. Great way to pilfer the bitz box, especially since any race could be infected.
October 3rd, 2018 at 1:38 pm
Too true – I might try to sneak a few unusual zombies in somewhere, plus maybe a big beast based on an ogryn.

They are great- I found the poxwalkers tricky to paint but yours have turned out great.
Cheers,
Pete.

Cheers! I agree, they’re not half as easy as you’d expect at first. I let washes do a lot of the work but there were still a lot of fiddly details to be addressed before I could call them done.
October 3rd, 2018 at 8:21 pm
First Zombie: “Come on people, I’ve been ringing the bell! What’s it going to take for some of you to come over here so I can eat your tasty, tasty brains?”
Second Zombie: “HUUUUGGGGSSSSS!”
They look good! They do have a surprising amount of detail on those Models. Letting washes do most of the work is probably the most efficient way of picking it all out.
I like the poses on the Plague Marines. I look forward to seeing how they turn out with some paint on them.

All this time I thought it was a plague bell and it’s actually a dinner bell! Brains are served!
Aye, the second one does look like he’s wanting a hug. That or showing off his dance moves!
I need to crack on with the plague marines. I’ve been working on a squad of them since the Blight Kings were released and so far none of them are actually finished. Someday though, someday…

Disgustingly lovely work on these disgustos – nice use of the …I want to say Mantic(?) head on the first guy to make the model much more unique. I cleaned up a bunch of poxwalkers, but appear to have lost half of them. By that, I mean literally half of the push-fit parts, so I’ve now got a baggie filled with half-poxwalkers..
October 3rd, 2018 at 10:30 pm
Mantic would be correct. I picked up a set of their zombies to mix with Cadians to make plague zombies – and almost immediately the poxwalkers appeared and made it all redundant. Nevermind, I’ll find uses for them nonetheless.
That’s irritating re your poxwalkers – I sympathise, I spent almost all of yesterday evening digging through boxes of bits looking for a Tzeenchian icon. It’s somehow worse if you know it’s there, especially as my bitsbox is so poorly curated – it really was a needle in a badly organised haystack.

I like the mouth on the last guy, the best. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a Space Marine with sharp pointy teeth before! Very nice!
October 12th, 2018 at 2:19 pm
Aye, I bet his dentist has an interesting life! Mind you it’s not just the traitors – I bet the old space shanks have some pointy gnashers too! š

I don’t think he’s using floss….
