Time for another Dreadtober update and, with another week under its belt, the bloat-drone is starting to assume its final form. Washes and layering have started to define the model and the ugliest phase of harsh flat panes of colour has passed. Now we get into the really enjoyable part, building up the form of the creature and transforming it from a lump of dead plastic to a living denizen of the 41st Millennium.
Will it be done by the end of the month? If I’m honest I doubt it, too many other projects are clamouring for attention and Dreadtober itself is a quieter, less communal affair than we’ve seen in previous years so the impetus to the finish line isn’t what it was. That said Dreadtober has done its work in pushing me through the early stages of getting it painted so from my perspective this has been a success – from here on my preference will be to savour painting this wonderful model rather than rushing to the finish line.

Looking good bro – glad you’re taking your time on this, I reckon it’ll be worth it 🙂

Aye, that’s my hope – I’d rather pace myself and enjoy the model than rush it now. After all I’ve got no plans to play any games with it in the foreseeable future, taking pleasure in the painting is the aim of the exercise for me at the moment.

Great looking piece; totally Nurgley! Coming alive indeed.

Thanks very much 🙂

Very nice so far. Looking forward to seeing further progress on your Bloater.
Mine is still just primed though it has gotten such an (undeserved) reputation with my regular opponents it doesn’t see much time on the table. If it could understand or care to understand the jabbering of its opponents it would think its name is “That Stupid Thing’s Gotta Die!” or “Bring it Down!” or some variation on that general theme.

That’s a shame – it’s a cracking model. Paint it anyway, that way it’s ready for action if you’re feeling the need to give your opponents something to worry about 🙂

Really liking the colors on it, even the white has a nice look to it.

Cheers – it’s a Nurgly spin on my usual chaos colour scheme, I’ll be rolling it out over the rest of my Death Guard.

You’ve done a very nice job on this as it is. I imagine it’s going to look fantastic when it’s finally done.
I’ve been doing some work on my two Dreads, but honestly, not much as I already had a lot of stuff in the queue and a lot of stuff close to completion (“a lot” being a relative term, of course). I do hope to get the IW one completed, though this week at work promises to be a harsh week, so getting much done next weekend will be difficult.

Aye, work is being a bit mental for me too – all the more reason to spend my time off enjoying myself rather than pressuring myself with yet another deadline. Good luck with your dreads 🙂

After spending a fair bit of time on it yesterday I think I’ll end up finishing at least the Iron Warriors dread. Not sure about the other one and its very unlikely that I get Bel done.
